American Nationals, ex Seismic Crew Required, Various Positions
We have a new Client that is looking for positions which although are not in Seismic, I believe would suit ex Obs / Nav / ROV Pilots, Masters & Mates etc that are looking for a change in career. The work is located in the USA and so American Nationals would be the preference. ASV Operator / Autonomous Surface Vehicle
Location: USA
Key Responsibilities:
USCG licensed operators and masters
ROV Pilots and Operators who would like to apply their remote vehicle skills to surface vessels.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of proven experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic, software and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
- Work performed in a combination of shop and offshore work environment. Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odours, fumes, oils.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility. Normal balance and depth perception, able to live aboard boats for extended periods of time (no chronic seasickness).
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatable, climb ladders, and work on deck in a marine environment. Must be able get a passport and be available for overseas travel.
Systems Engineer.
Location: USA
Key responsibilities:
Looking for Engineers of all disciplines such as Mechanical engineers, Computer Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Systems engineers to perform system engineering role for unmanned surface vessel design, analysis, and build. This position will be part of a team of engineers with diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
Typical duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and derive software and hardware requirements.
- Evaluates customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
- Selected candidate will participate in the equipment integration and checkout activities, receive and evaluate results of test and demonstration activities, and approve/disapprove each by determining whether results meet the checkout requirements, so that integration activities can proceed.
- Candidate must have good communication skills to report to customers and managers the outcome of integration and verification activities. This is an excellent opportunity to be able to work programs throughout multiple phases, along with gaining experience on all facets of systems engineering.
- Requirements:
- Bachelor’s and 5 or more years’ experience, Master’s degree with 3 or more years’ experience or PhD degree with experience
- Experience in Systems Engineering
Field Support Engineer.
Location: USA
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting the commissioning and testing (both on and off the water) of the electrical and software systems onboard each of our vehicles.
- Supporting the ongoing operation and maintenance of the vehicles when deployed at customer locations including investigation and diagnosis of any technical issues the vehicle and its control system may experience
- Liaising directly with customers and their representatives when the vehicles are deployed in the field at customer locations
- Working closely alongside members of the operations team and the wider team to ensure the continued efficient operation and refinement of our products by working with our clients to capture feedback and change requests, etc.
- Interfacing between operation team and Software/Engineering teams to aid in effective communication and provide feedback from operations team
- This role will require worldwide travel, potentially at short notice.
- Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines or comparable: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering/Design, and Systems Engineering.
- Essential:
- Basic C, C++ programming in a Linux environment
- Excellent networking knowledge, in particular layer 2 and layer 3 functions, including: understanding of subnets, VLAN configuration, routing functions, DHCP, IPSec, L2TP and the ability to re-configure networks to meet changing demands.
- CentOS toolchain experience in a headless environment. The ability to install CentOS and deal with unexpected failures such as in the bootloader or partition mounting.
- Experience in the set up and fault finding of complex marine electrical systems and sensors including experience with NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 protocols.
- Excellent electrical knowledge including the ability to understand electrical diagrams, understanding of various components such as relays, actuators, and the ability to investigate and trace electrical issues.
- The ability to quickly locate the cause of a problem from a set of symptoms and the ability to either resolve locally or liaise effectively with shore-based support teams to ensure such problems are dealt with quickly and efficiently
- To have strong organizational abilities, oral & written communications, and interpersonal skills.
- To be self-directed, organized, systematic, punctual, and goal-oriented.
Desirable: - Experience in working with basic mechanical systems such as marine engines, actuators
- PLC programming knowledge in structured text and use of debugging tools
- Experience working in the offshore environment
- Experience with, and interest in, the marine environment (either through business or leisure activities)
- Current Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (BOSIET) would also be an advantage but such training will be provided if necessary.
Junior Systems Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
This is an entry-level engineering position with expectation that the candidate will follow the career path to Engineer in their discipline. Junior Engineers are expected to spend time offshore in the field, becoming proficient in field operations and familiarizing themselves with the company’s products as applied to complete jobs. Junior Engineers are also expected perform maintenance and upgrades on ASV in the shop and offshore environment.
When not in the field, duties of this position include:
- Assisting Engineers & Sr. Engineers as needed
- Testing & troubleshooting of new designs
- Updating schematics & drawings in CAD software as directed by supervisors
- Building assemblies from schematics & drawings
- Basic PCB layout
- Maintenance to PLC code and firmware
- All other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
